Phase 1: Provides maximal support following a full recovery from your ankle sprain. This phase greatly reduces range of motion; specifically inversion, eversion, plantar flexion, and dorsiflexion.
Phase 2: Provides less support than in phase 1. This phase also reduces the range of motion of inversion, eversion, plantar flexion, and dorsiflexion but to a lesser extent.
Phase 3: Provides the least amount of support while inhibiting all range of motion. This phase is the least inhibitory of inversion, eversion, plantar flexion, and dorsiflexion.
Phase 4: Provides the least amount of support while inhibiting only two ranges of motion. This phase inhibits just the act of inversion and eversion.
Phase 5: This phase provides support while inhibiting only two ranges of motion. It provides resistance for plantar flexion and dorsiflexion.
